Broskiii Brash :P

Basura con Basura
Like most I’ve never pondered about what I throw away. It’s something that I’m so wired to doing that it's like breathing at this point. With that being said it was interesting to see what lies in my trash cans.

Main Trash
Pictured above is the trash can that is located in my kitchen. This thirty gallon bag typically contains styrofoam plates, napkins, wrappers, food and vegetable scraps, food packaging, and a variety of other pieces of junk. On a daily basis My family and I typically empty out this bag twice a day which looking back at now is a lot of trash. Most of this garbage can be avoided, for instance we could use real silverware instead of the styrofoam plates and also compost our vegetable scraps. Once in a while, my mom will actually participate in composting ,but not enough to where it greatly impacts our reduction of trash. Like I’ve said before my family and I really don't pay much attention to what we throw away.

Recycling🚴‍♀️

Now when it comes to recycling if you look inside our bin you’ll mostly find plastic  bottles, styrofoam cups, cardboard boxes, as well as cans and jugs. This bin typically gets taken out once a day and could be reduced by us drinking out of glasses and buying a filter to make our water drinkable to reduce our use of bottles.

In my neighborhood trash gets picked up on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s with Tuesday also being recycling day. To some the picture above with my bins at the curve may make some overwhelmed as it seems like a lot of trash, but in my neighborhood some  have up to three trash cans . Be aware that my restroom trash is also included in these bins as well as my sister and I’s personal trash can.  In there you’ll mostly find makeup wipes( mostly contributed by her) and water bottles because if I’m going to be honest sometimes our laziness gets the best of us and the recycling bin feels as if it’s to far away.
My Final Thoughts 😔

Overall I learned that my family and I have alot of trash which can be avoided. If we stop using styrofoam and switch back to dishes and glasses a majority of our trash will be reduced. From now on I'll try and be more consciouss on what I throw away and ways to reduce it as well as see ways I can reuse some of my products.
